God’s Calling on Your Life! Jer. 1:4-10
31 January, 2010
“Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; and before you were born I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet unto the nations.” vs.4, 5 God comes to us in His mercy and grace and choses to reveal Himself to us. He reveals Himself by giving us His word and by coming to us as the Living Word made flesh in our Lord Jesus Christ. See Heb.1:1-3. God comes to us saying, “I have known you.” “I have sanctified you.” “I have ordained you.”“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” God already knew you and had plans for you even before your conception. Ps. 139:13,14 “For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully make.” Before you were born God has already sanctified you, set you apart, for a special purpose He has for your life. He has already ordained that you are to be His witness and His ambassador. Jeremiah was known, set apart and ordained to be a prophet to the nations. We are known, set apart, and ordained to be a witness and ambassador to the nations. This is God’s will for us! 1 Tim. 2:3,4 “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” However we shall not all experience God’s will for our life! For we will not all surrender to the call of God on our life. Some will reject Christ and fail to believe His word. If you do not repent of your sins and trust in Christ, you can not be saved, you can not experience all that God has planned for you.
Jeremiah was fearful of what God had planned for His life and made excuses. “I am a child.” “But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.” vs.7-9 What great comfort and promise are these words! We do not go in our own strength. We do not go with our own wisdom and words. We go in the power of the Holy Spirit. God has given us His life changing words. May we speak His words from our mouth in the power of the Holy Spirit. Jer.23:28,29 “He that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD. Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?” Only God’s words, only the gospel can change a heart and save a soul.
Our calling is life changing. World changing. When God changes a life; It affects a family, a community, a nation and the world. You may serve as an ambassador homemaker, carpender, mechanic, farmer, teacher, factory worker or pastor. But we all are ambassadors for Christ. He is chosing to use us! May His kingdom come! May His will be done! May you hear the word of the gospel and believe. May you fulfill the calling of God on your life. To God be the glory. Amen.
